Define parameters for FreeWeb.
Any name consisting of spaces, numbers and letters to identify this particular redirection. Eg 'WEBServer'
At this time only "Web Server" is available:
The port number that the browsers will specify in their internet options. Usually (but not necessarily)
Normally 80
If there is a conflict with an existing port then it's likely that a web server is already running; either FreeWeb or some other web server. Unless you use port 80, the browser will not be able to connect. You can change the port number but if you do then each URL you enter into the browser will have to also include the port number.
For example, if you change the default port number from 80 to 81, then you'd have to enter the port number in the URL as follows:
http://yourserver.com:81
If you have a conflict see Resolving Port Conflicts
The root path is the path name prefix for all web pages retrieved from the web server. This adds a strong measure of protection to your server by limiting the access to only a specific path. For example, if the root path name is C:\FreeWeb\WebPages, on your server called myserver01.com, if the request is received for http://myserver01.com/info/today.htm, FreeWeb will retrieve C:\FreeWeb\WebPages\info\today.htm.
The web page to be retrieved if a request is received for the root path. If a request is filled in as http://myserver01/ by itself, and the Default Web page is called index.htm, then FreeWeb will access <Root Path Name>\index.htm.
Not currently used. However, if you check Allow Incoming, then you must fill in something in the Incoming Path.
To open the connection on a specific interface, check the box and use the drop down to select a specific Network interface and IP address. If left unchecked, the server will listen on all interfaces. For a detailed explanation see here.
On some messages, the HTTP protocol requires the sender to specify its address. Often, there are many address alias's that any one computer can be known as and the address it knows itself as may not be the address you wish to publicise to the users. This field is defaulted to the computer name but should be changed to the name that users will fill in as the server URL.
The time before FreeProxy will timeout an idle connection.
A value which FreeProxy will use to wait for the remote to respond or acknowledge a read or write event. Default: 30 seconds.
If trace has been set up to log information, then this is the log file that will receive the trace.
Setting this to "yes" will report in the log file every URL retrieved by the client. The trace level must be set to at least 'Warning' Level. See here.
A Calendar specified here will constrain the times that this port may be used. Users will not be able to connect outside of the times on the calendar. No calendar here (Option 'No') will allow access at all times. Before any calendars are listed here, they would first have to be created using the 'Define Calendars' option in the FreeProxy Control Centre.
